Moon sign — the Moon in the zodiac signs

The moon sign is where the Moon stood at the moment of birth. If the Sun is the essence, the Moon is the emotions: how a person feels, what soothes them and what the soul needs to be at peace. No table can tell it: the Moon changes signs every 2–3 days. The calculator below uses real ephemerides — and honestly warns when the Moon was switching signs on that very day.

The moon sign is about what the soul asks for. How it gets along with the Sun — and what the whole chart advises — is what Luna tells you.

Why no table can tell a moon sign

The Sun spends a month in a sign; the Moon spends two or three days — it laps the zodiac thirteen times a year. That is why a “moon sign date table” cannot exist: on the same calendar date in different years the Moon stands in different signs. It takes an ephemeris calculation for the specific date and place. One subtlety: every few days the Moon crosses a sign border, and for births on such a day the sign stays uncertain without a birth time — the calculator above says so openly when that happens.

The Moon in each sign

  1. Aries

Emotions arrive fast and burn clean: anger flares, then it's gone. This Moon calms down through movement — a run, a workout, a brisk walk — and through honest confrontation instead of long, simmering silence.

  2. Taurus

Feelings move slowly and settle deep, and safety smells like routine: the same mug, the same blanket, dinner that takes time. Touch, good food, and an unhurried evening restore this Moon better than any pep talk.

  3. Gemini

Emotions need words to become real: talking a feeling through — with a friend, a journal, even out loud alone — is how this Moon digests it. Fresh input soothes it too: a new podcast, a change of scenery, light banter.

  4. Cancer

Feelings run tidal — deep, cyclical, easily stirred by other people's moods. This Moon restores itself at home base: familiar smells, someone's arms, an evening with no obligations and the door gently closed.

  5. Leo

The heart wants to be seen: warmth, praise, and genuine attention aren't luxuries for this Moon but nutrition. It recovers through play, celebration, and moments of feeling truly special to someone.

  6. Virgo

Anxiety loosens when things are in order: a tidied desk, a written list, a plan for tomorrow. This Moon steadies itself through small useful rituals — and through being genuinely helpful to someone it loves.

  7. Libra

Harmony is oxygen: raised voices and unresolved tension physically drain this Moon. It restores itself in beauty and good company — a calm conversation, a lovely space, everything back in its gentle balance.

  8. Scorpio

Beneath a calm surface, everything runs deep and all-or-nothing. This Moon recovers in trusted intimacy or complete solitude — one person who can hear the whole truth, or a locked door and time to process.

  9. Sagittarius

Heaviness lifts through space and perspective: a road trip, an open sky, a good reason to laugh. This Moon needs life to feel wide — and revives the moment the walls move back and the horizon reappears.

  10. Capricorn

Composure is the default: this Moon keeps feelings private and settles when life feels handled — a plan in place, work moving forward, someone dependable nearby who asks nothing dramatic in return.

  11. Aquarius

A slight distance keeps emotions breathable: this Moon observes feelings rather than drowning in them, and relaxes with room to be odd — a friend who doesn't judge, time alone with ideas, zero pressure to perform on cue.

  12. Pisces

Every mood in the room seeps in, so restoration means retreat: music, water, a nap, a daydream with the phone off. This Moon heals through gentle escapes — and through crying when crying is exactly what's needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find my moon sign without a birth time?

Usually yes: the Moon stays in a sign for 2–3 days, so on most dates the sign holds all day. But if the Moon crossed a border on the birthday, the answer splits without a time — the calculator shows that honestly, and an exact time settles it.

How is the moon sign different from the sun sign?

The Sun is essence and will: what a person does and where they head. The Moon is emotion and safety: how they feel, what soothes them, what they are like at home when nobody watches. Both work at once.

Why am I nothing like my zodiac sign?

Often precisely because of the Moon: in close relationships and daily life the moon sign sounds louder than the sun sign. Add the ascendant — the first impression. One sign is a third of the picture.

Is the Moon in a “difficult” sign a bad thing?

There are no bad moon signs. Every Moon has its own way to recover — care, silence, movement, order or depth. Knowing that way is the main practical gift of the moon sign.

Calculating the points is astronomy; interpreting them is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not science.
