Age periods

An age period is a position on the figure that owns a stretch of a life: the eight corners carry the decades - 0, 10, 20 and onward to 70, with the cycle closing at 80 - and the points between them carry the years in between. Period is the method’s own word here, and it does not mean a transit: nothing moves, nothing is observed, and the value was settled on the day the person was born.

The stretches subdivide recursively, each new point being the sum of the two beside it, so the closer you look the shorter the span - from decades down to single years. That is also why an offer to “recalculate your periods for the new year” is empty: there is nothing in them for a new year to change.

The arcana of the year

The second number is about a particular calendar year, and it does change:

arcana of the year = reduce(day + month + personal year)

Personal year is a borrowed term, and it means something narrower here than in numerology, where a personal year is a cycle of nine. The value entering the formula is the calendar year itself, all four digits of it, and personal marks only where the count starts: not 1 January but the birthday. Until the birthday arrives, last year’s number is still the one in force - and the result lands somewhere in 1–22 rather than 1–9.

What these numbers describe

A theme, not an event. The arcana of the year says what the year will teach through - through people, through money, through a pause - and “teach through” is the whole of the claim: it names no dates, promises no journeys and warns of no disasters.

The word heavy gets attached to a handful of the twenty-two, and it describes weight, not outcome. Each of them has a strong side and is read as a task rather than a threat; a method with no event layer could not deliver a warning even if it wanted to.
