Age periods

The circle of the matrix is divided into stretches of life: every corner and every point between corners covers its own age. The stretches subdivide recursively, so the closer you look the shorter the period — from decades down to single years.

These numbers do not move: the birth date fixes them once and for all, and they cannot be recalculated for a new year.

The arcana of the year

The second number is about a particular calendar year, and it does change:

arcana of the year = reduce(day + month + personal year)

The personal year runs from birthday to birthday, not from January: until the birthday arrives, the previous personal year is still running.

What these numbers describe

A theme, not an event. The arcana of the year says what the year will teach through — through people, through money, through a pause. It names no dates, promises no journeys and warns of no disasters.

A heavy arcana in a year is not a sentence: each one has a strong side, and it should be read as a task rather than a threat.
