What sits in your house 2
Your data carries over - Luna reads the chart aloud
A house is a stage. Who plays on it and what comes of it in your case is what Luna reads from the whole chart, by voice and without jargon.

Quoting a price for your own work. That half-second of hesitation before you say the number out loud. The subscription you keep meaning to cancel. A jacket carried around the shop for twenty minutes. The drawer of things you no longer use and can’t quite throw out. The second house lives in those small verdicts about what something is worth to you.
The 2nd house is not a forecast of how rich you get
The wording is inherited and it misleads. Latin tables called the second lucrum, gain; English handbooks turned that into riches; and readers have been opening the sector looking for an amount ever since. No amount is in there. What the second holds is the rate you can say out loud without your voice changing, the length of the pause before you say it, and the private setting for what counts as enough - which is why a raise can move a bank balance and leave the month feeling identical. The other half of the misreading is quieter: people expect this house to list what they own, when what it tracks is what they would defend. Two people on the same salary in the same flat can differ completely on which part of it they would fight to keep.
A busy 2nd house, and an empty one
The teenager who did the maths on a Saturday job before accepting it grew up with a busy second house. Empty is a different temperament rather than a smaller bank balance: money still turns up, it simply is not the thing you weigh yourself on, and the earning gets handled from elsewhere in the chart. Everyone who arrives worried that an empty second means no money has been told wrong by somebody who ought to have known better.
How it differs from the 8th house
Two accounts, same balance. One you can raid on a Tuesday without telling a soul; the other has a second name attached and any movement in it starts with a conversation. The second house is the first account. The eighth is everything about the other one - the inheritance, the mortgage, the money a partner brought with them - and it runs on a skill the second house never had to learn, which is saying an amount out loud without your voice changing.
How wide the 2nd house actually is
Houses are not 30° slices: Placidus cuts them by how long the sky takes to rise, so they stretch the further from the equator you were born. Sampled every four minutes across a day at the latitude of London, the 2nd house came out anywhere between 16.8° – 47.7°.
That is a middling swing — enough that “the 2nd house is a twelfth of the chart” is a useful simplification rather than a fact, and enough that a planet sitting right on the cusp deserves a second look at your birth certificate. The houses page has the full latitude table, including what happens above the Arctic Circle.
Shared by every house: what each planet does inside a house, the sign on the cusp and the common questions about houses.
Questions about the 2nd house
What does the 2nd house rule, in one line?
Money, talents and self-worth. Everything above unpacks that: what it looks like on an ordinary day, what gets misread about it, and what changes when planets land in it. If you want the twelve side by side, they are on the houses page.
Calculating the points is astronomy; interpreting them is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not science.
Houses work together
Luna reads the 2nd house with the sign on its cusp and its ruler, which is where “what am I worth” stops being a mood and turns into a pattern you can name.
