Libra: element, modality and ruling planet
Libra is air and cardinal, ruled by Venus - the same planet as Taurus, on a different assignment. Here Venus works by comparison: the question is never simply what I want but how that looks beside somebody else, which is why a decision can be genuinely finished and still reopen the moment a second opinion arrives. Libra takes the seventh place, on the angle where the seventh house begins, and its cardinal move is to level things before starting; the sign also opens at an equinox, the day light and dark come out equal.
An equinox opens Libra
The Sun crosses the sign roughly Sep 23 – Oct 22.
Computed, rather than averaged: across 1960–2029 the Sun entered Libra no earlier than 22 September 11:45 UTC and no later than 23 September 18:23 UTC — and your own time zone shifts that window again.
Two start dates, both printed with confidence. September 22 and September 23 appear on equally serious charts because the boundary is the equinox itself and not a day on the calendar. Scorpio takes over around October 22. Time zone matters as much as the date: an equinox at nine in the evening UTC has already happened for a birth in Tokyo and has not happened yet for one in Chicago.

What drives the Sun in Libra
Not agreeableness. Something closer to a low tolerance for tilt. When a room is unfair, a Libra Sun is physically uncomfortable inside it and starts levelling without being asked. The right sentence lands the way a straightened frame does. Beauty and justice turn out to be the same instinct wearing different clothes.
A negotiation stalls, and then a third option nobody had reached is on the table. Two people who stopped speaking last spring end up in the same conversation, each convinced they fixed it themselves. Force is not in the toolkit. Agreement is, and it works in the places where force has already been tried.
The other side of the Sun in Libra
“Whatever you like” is polite, and it quietly costs this Sun the evening it actually wanted; while a version that suits everybody is being drafted, its own preference slides to the back of the queue, and disagreements stack in silence until they arrive together at the worst possible moment. Saying it while the table can still be moved is not selfishness - it is the thing that keeps the fairness real.
Sun in Libra and Libra rising are not the same thing
Charm at the door tells you almost nothing about the house - Libra rising can be perfectly blunt with its own family half an hour later. A Libra Moon cannot settle while two people in the room are unhappy with each other. The Sun is the inconvenient one: it goes on working at the balance in the middle of an argument with somebody it loves, which does not look charming from any angle. Manner, need and value, in that order.
The rising sign itself: Libra rising - how a person reads in the first minutes.
Calculating the luminaries is astronomy; interpreting them is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not science.
Your sun sign is one third of the big three
Luna reads a Libra Sun next to the seventh house and Venus, so “likes harmony” becomes a specific account of what you keep agreeing to and what it costs.
