LunaPersonality
A Sagittarius needs somewhere to be going. A country, a course, an argument that has not been settled yet - take the horizon away and what is left is a restless, faintly irritable version of somebody who is otherwise excellent company. Jupiter runs this sign, and Jupiter makes everything one size larger: the plans, the appetite, the opinions, the map on the wall.
A Sagittarius answers the question you actually asked. Does this look bad, was the presentation any good, is he worth it - a Sagittarius says yes or no while everybody else is still composing something diplomatic. Cruelty has nothing to do with it: it genuinely does not occur to them that a true answer could be unwelcome, and they are honestly startled when it lands badly.
The optimism is a working tool rather than a pose: this sign really does believe there is a way through, and finds one more often than the cautious signs do. It also books three things for the same evening. Sagittarians who learn to say “let me check” before saying yes keep most of the upside and lose almost none of the fun.
Love and compatibility
A Sagittarius is not looking for someone to be kept by but for someone to go with: trips, plans, and jokes that run for years. Freedom is the condition of the whole arrangement, and supervision is the fastest way to watch this sign turn vague about the weekend. Given the room, though, they stay. Mutable fire is not shallow, it is simply allergic to a cage.
| Sign | Aspect | How it goes |
|---|---|---|
| ♈︎ Aries | trine | flows: one element, a shared language |
| ♉︎ Taurus | quincunx | translation: very different ways of living |
| ♊︎ Gemini | opposition | a magnet: opposites attract |
| ♋︎ Cancer | quincunx | translation: very different ways of living |
| ♌︎ Leo | trine | flows: one element, a shared language |
| ♍︎ Virgo | square | work: friction that moves both |
| ♎︎ Libra | sextile | easy: friendly elements supporting each other |
| ♏︎ Scorpio | semisextile | neighbours: a common border, different languages |
| ♐︎ Sagittarius | conjunction | a mirror: everything shared - strengths and blind spots |
| ♑︎ Capricorn | semisextile | neighbours: a common border, different languages |
| ♒︎ Aquarius | sextile | easy: friendly elements supporting each other |
| ♓︎ Pisces | square | work: friction that moves both |
Mutable fire against the other eleven is a comparison by sign alone, which is a coarse instrument on purpose - all twelve matches are gathered on Sagittarius compatibility, every combination is set out in zodiac sign compatibility, and for two actual people the compatibility calculator starts from two birth dates instead.
Work and money
Teaching, travel, publishing, sport, languages, anything international, anything that grows: Sagittarius needs the horizon written into the job description. A role with no next step gets abandoned without much regret. Usually the sign turns out to have been right about that.
Earning is rarely the problem here; keeping is. It goes on flights, on other people, and on the reasonable assumption that more is coming. Budgets are boring enough here to be ignored outright, so the version that works is not a spreadsheet but a goal with a place name attached to it.
Dates and the cusp
Sagittarius usually runs from November 22 to December 21, but the borders are not fixed to the calendar: the Sun changes sign at a specific hour, and that hour drifts by a day or two from year to year.
If a birthday falls on the cusp, date tables cannot be trusted - the exact answer comes from a calculation by time and place on the Sun in Sagittarius page.

Frequently asked questions
When does the Sagittarius season start?
Usually around November 22: the Sun enters the sign near that date and leaves around December 21. The exact hour of the crossing shifts from year to year, so right on the cusp the answer comes from a birth-time calculation - Sun in Sagittarius.
Is Sagittarius A* connected to the star sign?
The connection is directional and nothing more: Sagittarius A* is the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, named for the patch of sky it appears in, and the galactic centre really does lie in the constellation Sagittarius. The astrological sign is a 30-degree slice of the seasonal zodiac and does not depend on what sits behind it. Still a good coincidence for a sign whose entire theme is distance.
Who is the perfect match for a Sagittarius?
Somebody who packs their own bag. Fire signs keep up, air signs keep it interesting, and the quiet success story is often an earth sign who does not mind being left at home for a week and is genuinely pleased to hear about it afterwards. What no pairing survives is being checked up on.
Astrology is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not science. This describes the character of a sign, not a prediction of fate.
