What sits in your house 10
Your data carries over - Luna reads the chart aloud
A house is a stage. Who plays on it and what comes of it in your case is what Luna reads from the whole chart, by voice and without jargon.
Read my chartThis is an angle of the chart
The cusp of the tenth house is the Midheaven (MC), the highest point of the chart: vocation and public role.
The 10th house on a Monday at work
An email signature rewritten four times and still not right. A party where you know nobody. Somebody asks what you do, and twelve years of work has to fit into one sentence. A call from a stranger who says you came recommended. Being introduced by somebody else, in their words rather than yours. The tenth house is the outward-facing side of the work.
What the 10th house does not promise
Regnum - reign - is the old name for the tenth, and the modern translation of a reign is a job title, which is why the sector gets read as an employment history. Titles are the packaging. What the house tracks is authority in the plain sense of the word: the subjects on which people take your word without checking it, and how you came to be trusted on them. That gets built out of evidence over years and it survives a change of employer, which a job title does not. The second misreading is subtler and costs people a decade. The tenth gets equated with ambition, when a great many crowded tenths belong to people with no interest whatsoever in climbing anything and a very strong interest in being handed something that matters.
A packed 10th house, and an empty one
Who taught you what counts as having got somewhere? A stacked tenth house means the answer was installed early, loudly, and by somebody whose approval mattered a great deal at the time. Empty, and the question stays optional - plenty of people build something half the city uses and feel no urge whatsoever to put their name on the front of it. Neither version predicts how much you end up doing.
How it differs from the 4th house
Both ends get their turn, rarely at the same time. Someone spends twelve years building a name and then finds the only question with any pull left in it is who is at the kitchen table on a Wednesday, and the same swap in the opposite direction startles people considerably more. What the tenth produces a stranger can look up. What the fourth produces nobody can look up, and it is not one gram less real for that.
The 10th house is one of the steady ones
Houses are not 30° slices: Placidus cuts them by how long the sky takes to rise, so they stretch the further from the equator you were born. Sampled every four minutes across a day at the latitude of London, the 10th house came out anywhere between 17.5° – 39.8°.
That is one of the narrowest swings in the wheel: the 10th house stays close to a regular slice at almost any birth hour. Practically, it is one of the sturdier placements to trust when your birth time is approximate. The houses page has the full latitude table, including what happens above the Arctic Circle.

Questions about the 10th house
What does the 10th house rule, in one line?
Career, vocation and reputation. Everything above unpacks that: what it looks like on an ordinary day, what gets misread about it, and what changes when planets land in it. If you want the twelve side by side, they are on the houses page.
Calculating the points is astronomy; interpreting them is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not science.
Houses work together
Luna reads the 10th house with the Midheaven and Saturn, and answers the useful version of the career question: what you would like all this building to add up to.
