Chemically it is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium, which is a dry way of saying the colour is copper and the stone is full of microscopic pores. Those pores are the entire story. They make it light, they make it soft at Mohs 5 to 6, and they mean it absorbs whatever it comes into contact with - a piece worn daily for ten years is not the colour it was in the shop.
Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and the tradition handed the sign the stone of the road. Turquoise was tied to travel long before tourism: it went onto bridles and saddle fittings from Persia to the American Southwest, in cultures with no contact with each other, on the same idea that a rider ought to carry something blue. For a mutable fire sign that gets restless indoors, that is a correspondence nobody has to squint at.
Which brings the honest part. No stone keeps anyone safe on a road, and nothing here will suggest otherwise. Cleaning: a soft dry cloth for all three, and water and soap only for the topaz and the amethyst. Never put turquoise in an ultrasonic basket. Store it separately as well - at Mohs 5 it is the softest thing on this list, and everything else in the box will scratch it.
