One date, many climates
Almanacs were regional publications, printed for a county or a state, and their Moon tables travelled alongside frost dates and planting notes written for that particular place. A calendar published for everyone loses the half that made the other half usable, and what is left looks far more universal than it is. The honest way to read the table below is to treat the Moon column as the last filter rather than the first: work out what May allows where you are, and then choose among the days that survive. On that reading the barren dates cost nothing at all, because the weather has usually removed more of the month than the tradition has.
