A moment and a label are not the same thing
Phase labels are drawn on a grid: anything within 22.5 degrees of alignment is called new, anything within 22.5 degrees of opposition is called full. Across the two years in this ephemeris that grid hangs a lunation label on 179 days for 50 actual lunations, which works out at about four dates each. A calendar blocking every labelled date would therefore strike out eight of October's dates instead of two, and the two it should strike are the exact instants printed above: the new moon at 15:50 UTC and the full moon at 04:12 UTC. Getting that wrong matters most in months where a lunation lands inside a favoured run, which is why the distinction is drawn here rather than left to a chart's colouring.
